The Poly Pond and Fisheries Project by Kamdars Care is a sustainable rural livelihood initiative aimed at promoting water conservation and income diversification through integrated fish farming. This program supports small and marginal farmers in constructing poly-lined ponds for efficient water harvesting, irrigation, and aquaculture.

Through technical assistance and field-based training, Kamdars Care enables farmers to utilize unused or underutilized land for productive fish farming. These poly ponds, made with UV-stabilized liners, are low-cost, durable, and suitable for areas with poor water retention. Each unit serves dual purposes: irrigation support for crops and a steady source of income through fisheries.

Key Components:

Poly Pond Installation: Assistance in planning, excavation, and installation of poly-lined ponds based on soil type and water table.
Fish Farming Support: Supply of quality fingerlings (such as Rohu, Katla, Mrigal, Tilapia), fish feed, and disease management guidance.
Training & Capacity Building: On-site training for farmers in pond management, feed planning, water quality monitoring, and harvesting techniques.
Input & Market Linkages: Kamdars Care connects farmers with local input suppliers and fish buyers to ensure profitability and sustainability.
Convergence with Government Schemes: Support in availing subsidies and technical guidance under PM Matsya Sampada Yojana and other allied schemes.

An irrigation pond system serves a dual purpose: providing reliable irrigation for agriculture and creating growing environments for fish farming.
