Seed Production Program

Seed Production Program

The Seed Promotion Program by Kamdars Care, in collaboration with reputed public and private seed agencies, aims to ensure the timely availability and adoption of high-quality seeds among smallholder farmers. By linking farmers with reliable seed sources, the program promotes improved crop productivity, varietal diversity, and sustainable farming systems.

Kamdars Care partners with agencies such as ICAR institutes, State Seed Corporations, National Seeds Corporation (NSC), private seed companies, and agri-research bodies to bring certified and climate-resilient seed varieties to the grassroots level.

Key Features of the Program:
  • Access to Quality Seeds: Farmers are provided with certified, high-yielding, and disease-resistant seeds for key crops like soybean, sweetcorn, vegetables, pulses, and oilseeds.
  •  Seed Production by FPOs: Kamdars Care supports FPOs in producing and marketing certified seeds under technical guidance from partner agencies.
  • Community Seed Banks: Local seed banks are established and maintained to ensure last-mile access to quality seeds during critical sowing periods.
  • Capacity Building: Training programs in seed production, storage, and treatment practices are conducted with support from seed experts and scientists.
  • Market and Institutional Linkages: Kamdars Care facilitates the branding and sale of farmer-produced seeds through partnerships with agri-input dealers and government procurement programs.

By strengthening local seed systems and encouraging farmer-led seed enterprises, this program contributes to seed security, income enhancement, and agricultural self-reliance at the grassroots.

We aim to bring prosperity to every farmer and all our stakeholders by delivering quality seeds and services.
  • We understand and value the importance of seed research to deliver better products to farmers and strengthen the agriculture of the country.
  • The agricultural Research and Development at JKAGL emphasises genomics in crop breeding.
  • We have highly qualified scientists who rigorously work towards enabling improvement in the quality of products that enhance yields.
  • We utilize diverse germplasm collections and breeding tools to facilitate meeting the objectives of providing farmers with crops best suited for their local environment with value addition of biotic and abiotic traits.
  • The company has well-established in-house crop breeding and biotechnology R&D units recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), a state-of-the-art biotechnology center for Genomics, and other new-generation breeding tools.
  • The world-class infrastructure supports 3 main research stations, 4 sub-stations, 6 dynamic research stations, and several multi-location trial centers covering all agro-climatic zones in India.
  • The use of BT cotton drastically reduced the amounts of chemical pesticides used on cotton. Our “X-Gene” Bt cotton technology is now commercially approved in Sudan, Ethiopia, and Swaziland.
  • We adhere to international quality control and quality assurance protocols to ensure the best quality seeds for the farming community.
Objectives
  • Our research efforts are directed towards applying innovative methods to deliver high-quality and robust seeds with strong adaptability to various regions in the country.
  • Our strong R&D team works towards meeting the challenges and requirements involved in plant breeding and ensuring healthy seeds with improved quality and higher resistance to diseases.
  • Objective-oriented development in crops results in superior hybrids.
  • Ensuring the development of various crops according to the needs of the farmers.
  • Disease resistance of multiple crops gives economic importance to the farmers.
  • Effective maintenance of breeding, breeder seed production, and supply.
